MILWAUKEE – Jackson Rose scored the tying goal with 15 seconds left in regulation, but the Marquette University men's lacrosse team fell 15-14 in overtime to No. 9/10 Georgetown on Saturday at Valley Fields.
Senior Devon Cowan scored a season-high four goals and freshman goalie Lucas Lawas made big plays in his first career start for the Golden Eagles (6-6, 1-2 BIG EAST), who led by a pair midway through the third. Cowan's fourth gave MU its last lead, 12-11, with eight minutes remaining before three-straight scores by the Hoyas to reclaim a two-goal advantage themselves.Â
MU's Will Foster scored with 1:02 remaining to pull MU within one and Logan Kreinz claimed a ground ball on a Luke Williams faceoff win and the Golden Eagles called timeout. Cowan had his number called again in the waning seconds, and though his shot was saved by GU's Danny Hincks, Jackson Rose was on the spot for the rebound and buried the tying-score with 15 seconds to play.
The Hoyas (7-3, 3-0 BIG EAST) were able to claim the OT faceoff and Tucker Dordevic buried his 33rd goal of the year 1:22 into the extra period for the win.
Jake Stegman had a season-high six points on two goals and four assists.
