MU hosts its home meet next Saturday, Apr. 22 at Wisconsin Lutheran

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Marquette University men's and women's track team wrapped up its weekend of competition at Indiana State and the Gibson Invitational.
The remainder of the big team was competing in a pair of meets in California.
In the men's decathlon, Simon Werven was the top MU finisher with a score of 6539 to place fifth. It's the second-best score of Werven's career. In his first-ever decathlon, freshman Gus Kasun recorded the No. 7 score in program history with 6289 points to finish sixth. Fellow first-year Cole Donahe finished ninth with 5720 points.
In the women's high jump, Emma ludwig cleared the bar at a height of 1.60 meters/5 feet, 3 inches to place fifth overall. Freshman Natalia Jackowski cleared the same height on her second attempt to take seventh.
Emma Kingsley cleared a lifetime best height of 3.45 meters/11 feet, 3.75 inches in the pole vault to take ninth. On the men's side, Adam Schommer cleared his best mark of the season with a height of 4.76 meters/15 feet, 7.25 inches to place sixth. With that mark, Schommer passes coach Zach Pawlowski on the all-time performance list at No. 6 all-time.
In the hurdles, Sophomore Julia Beck knocked nearly eight-tenths of a second off her 100m hurdles PR with a time of 15.08 to take 13th. In the men's 400m hurdles, Jared Humphrey ran his best time since joining the Marquette squad with a time of 56.43. Humphrey placed ninth overall.
Nathan Hirsch was the top MU runner placing 10th in the men's 800m with a personal best time of 1:57.31.
