Golf in 11th After First Round of NCAA Auburn Regional

AUBURN, Ala. – The Marquette University men's golf team shot a 13-over par 301 in the first round of the NCAA Auburn Regional.

The Golden Eagles played in hot and humid conditions at the lengthy Auburn University Club.

Max Lyons and Bhoom Sima-Aree were the low men for MU, finishing 1-over par (73). Starting on No. 10, Lyons made the turn at 3-over par. The First Team All-BIG EAST selection made birdies on both par 5s, Nos. 3 and 7, to shoot a bogey-free 2-under par on his back nine to finish 1-over par on the day. He's tied for 15th individually.

Sima-Aree had a steady round, making 15 pars with only two bogeys. The BIG EAST Champion made his lone birdie of the day on the 615-yard par 5 No. 7. After leaving his second shot short of the green, Sima-Aree made his up-and-down for birdie. He is tied with Lyons at 15th.

MU's No. 5, Josh Robinson finished his round 4-over par (76). Robinson played his opening nine bogey-free with two birdies. He dropped in a long birdie putt on No. 18 to make the turn 2-under.

Round two tee times will begin off No. 1 at 8 a.m. CT and 8:30 a.m. CT on No. 10. MU's first tee time is 9:25 a.m. off of No. 10. Live scoring for the NCAA Regionals is available on GolfStat.
