Weizeorick was a NCAA regional qualifier in the men's steeplechase
MILWAUKEE - Men's distance runner Dan Weizeorick is the Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for August 2023, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff. Â
Weizeorick is a senior in the College of Business Administration, with a double major in operations & supply chain management and marketing. He has been a member of the Dean's List in the College of Business every semester at Marquette in addition to recognition on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. He is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma (National Honor Society for Student Athletes), and has participated in the LEAD leadership development program in Athletics. Weizworick interns with Mars, Inc. in Franklin, Tennessee this summer, in end-to-end planning, purchasing and delivery for the pet food division. While there, he is reunited with former teammate Greg VanHollen, who began working with Mars after graduation in May.
Weizeorick was Marquette's top men's runner at each of the last two BIG EAST Cross Country Championships and competed in his first NCAA regional this past spring in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He placed 38th overall in the 2023 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds at Sacramento State and his time of 8:53.32 at the 2023 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships is the second-best time in program history. The native of Lisle, Illinois also owns the No. 8 mark all-time at MU in the outdoor 5k and is No. 4 and 6, respectively, in the program record book in the indoor 3k and 5k.Â
