WSOC Heads To UIC Thursday Night

The Marquette University women's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) opens a three-match road swing on Thursday night when the team travels to UIC (0-2-1) for a 6 p.m. CT match.

The Golden Eagles won't return to Valley Fields until they host Western Michigan on Sept. 14 to begin a four-match homestand, which includes the BIG EAST opener.

Cook, Block Claim Honors

Marquette seniors Isa Cook and Hailey Block were both named to the all-tournament team of the Milwaukee Challenge Cup after outings against Denver and Minnesota.

Easter Grabs Career High

Netminder Mikki Easter finished with a career-best eight saves in the 0-0 draw against Denver last Thursday.

The Culpepper, Virginia, native owns a pair of shutouts on the season and eight for her 31-game career at Marquette. Easter twice stopped seven shots in an outing prior to the matchup with the Pioneers.

Junior Chloe Olson started in net against Minnesota on Sunday.

MU's Offense Off To Slow Start

Through four matches, the Marquette offensive attack is still looking to find its stride,

The Golden Eagles have netted just one goal and have collected 11 shots on goal. Only Isa Cook (2) has more than one of those attempts.

Cline Nets Winner At Colorado

Junior defender Caroline Cline touched home her second-career goal on Sunday at Colorado, giving MU just enough to earn the 1-0 victory.

Cline found herself alone at the back post in the 35th minute on a corner from Mia Heartle and Kate Gibson's quick touch at the near post rolled right to Cline's feet.

MU Facing Flames For Third Time

Marquette is making its first trip to Chicago to face the Flames, with each of the previous two meetings coming at Valley Fields.

Last year, forward Josie Bieda's scored her first-career goal in the 75th minute to help the Golden Eagles earn a 1-1 draw on Sept. 1, 2022.
