MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's soccer team (6-1-0, 0-1-0 BIG EAST) will compete for the Milwaukee Cup on Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. CT as the squad takes on UW-Milwaukee (2-4-0, 0-2-0 Horizon) at Engelmann Stadium.
Marquette Suffers First Loss of The Season In BIG EAST OPENER
The Golden Eagles, who won each of their first six matches of the season at home, were playing on the road for the first time this season and suffered a 2-1 defeat to BIG EAST foe Creighton.
Marquette fell behind 2-0 midway through the first half after the Bluejays found the back of the net twice in less than five minutes.
Defender Kyle Bebej scored his first-career goal in the 59th minute, perfectly placing a shot from distance into the upper left corner of the net. Creighton finished with a 14-6 advantage in shots, but each of Marquette's six shots were on goal.
Marquette Offense Ranks Top Five In NCAA Division I
With 20 goals, MU has strung together six-straight wins to open the season, suffering just one lost.
The Golden Eagles have had no shortage of offense this season, scoring a season high of six goals against Detroit Mercy. Holding the number two spot in NCAA DI goals scored (20), MU is currently averaging nearly 3 goals per match and has shown serious striking power.
Featuring depth in the scoring column this season, three players have scored two goals in three matches for the Golden Eagles. Brooklyn Merl continues to anchor the Blue and Gold's attack as he has scored in four out of the seven matches this season.

MU's back line has played an equal part of its hot start tallying three shutouts and earning a top three ranking in goal differential of 14.
Marquette's defense is led by keeper Lugvid Målberg who has put together three clean sheets on the season. Together, the back line and Målberg have only given up six goals on the season.
