WSOC Continues BIG EAST Play On The Road

MU visits Creighton and UConn this week
The Marquette University women's soccer team (4-5-2, 1-1-0 BIG EAST) hits the road on a five-day road swing for a pair of BIG EAST matchups, traveling to Creighton (Sept. 28) and UConn (Oct. 1).

The Golden Eagles will travel directly from Omaha to Hartford, visiting both cities for the first time since 2021.
Gibson Finds Back Of Net
  Â
Marquette forward Kate Gibson entered the matchup with DePaul in possession of several near misses while searching for her first goal of the campaign and was finally able to find the back of the net versus the Blue Demons.

The Kansas City, Missouri, native netted the game winner in the 2-1 decision over DePaul on Sept. 21, touching home a long service from senior Aeryn Kennedy.
Pair of Freshman Net GoalsÂ

Marquette picked up a win and a tie in a pair of home outings to conclude non-league play, thanks to goals from two members of its freshman class.

Taylor Schad was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after a goal against WMU and an assist versus St. Thomas. Â She also drew the foul that led to Isa Cook's PK game winner against the Broncos.

Emily Fix headed home her first-career goal in the 1-1 draw with St. Thomas.

Six different players have now scored for Marquette in 2023.
Bieda Nets Goal, Ends StreakÂ

Forward Josie Bieda netted the game-winning goal in a 1-0 decision at Milwaukee on Sept. 7, snapping the Panthers' 19-match winning streak (18-0-1) at Engelmann Stadium.

The goal was Bieda's first of the season and first since Sept. 2, 2022 against UIC.
Cook, Block Claim HonorsÂ

Marquette seniors Isa Cook and Hailey Block were both named to the all-tournament team of the Milwaukee Challenge Cup after outings against Denver and Minnesota.
Easter Grabs Career HighÂ

Netminder Mikki Easter finished with a career-best eight saves in the 0-0 draw against Denver on August 24.

The Culpepper, Virginia, native owns a trio of shutouts on the season and nine for her 36-game career at Marquette. Â Easter twice stopped seven shots in an outing prior to the matchup with the Pioneers.
Cline Nets Winner At ColoradoÂ

Junior defender Caroline Cline touched home her second-career goal on Aug. 20 at Colorado, giving MU just enough to earn the 1-0 victory.

Cline found herself alone at the back post in the 35th minute on a corner from Mia Heartle and Kate Gibson's quick touch at the near post rolled right to Cline's feet.
MU Continues BIG EAST PlayÂ

Marquette owns extended series history with both Creighton and UConn, including multiple overtime matchups.
