WBB Faces St. John’s Wednesday Night in Queens

The No. 19/20 Marquette women's basketball team continues its two-game road trip at St. John's on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Tipoff from Carnesecca Arena is at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Maria Marino (PxP) and Kim Adams (Analyst) on the call.

SCOUTING THE RED STORM
• St. John's is coming off a 76-67 loss at then No. 21 Creighton on Sunday.
• Jillian Archer had a season-high 19 points.
• Leading scorer Unique Drake (19.7 ppg) had 16 points.
• Drake has been named on the conference weekly honor roll three times this season and was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after a 30-point outing at Yale on Dec. 21.
• Unique Drake was named preseason Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST.
• The Red Storm were picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST preseason coaches' poll.
• Megan Duffy was as an assistant coach with Joe Tartamella from 2009-12 at St. John's.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST ST. JOHN'S
• Wednesday's matchup will be the 34th meeting all-time between Marquette and St. John's, with MU leading the series 22-11.
• Golden Eagles have won 13 out of the last 15 games.
• The home team won both regular season matchups last season before Marquette won 57-47 in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST tournament to take the season series.
• Jordan King had 27 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in last season's game in Queens.

KING TOP RETURNING SCORER IN BIG EAST
• At 17.2 points per game in league play, Jordan King is the BIG EAST's top returning scorer from 2022-23.
• King has had 44 double figure scoring performances in conference play, including seven 20-point games.
• King is the active career scoring and assists leader in the conference with 1,594 points and 527 assists.

LIZA CAREER SCORING STRETCH
• Liza Karlen is averaging 19.6 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game in the last five contests.
• The senior has led the team in scoring six times this season, and has five 20-point games this season after having four total her first three years at MU.
• The St. Paul, Minnesota native was the first BIG EAST Player to be named AP National Player of the Week on Dec. 19 after averaging 24.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 blocks in wins over then No. 20 Creighton and App State.

HARE AMONG NATION'S BEST FROM THREE
• Mackenzie Hare is third in the nation in 3-point percentage (53.1) and tenth in treys per game (3.3).
• Hare has hit at least five threes in 5-of-13 games.
• The Naperville, Illinois native is first in the BIG EAST in 3-pointers made with 43 for the season, good for 10th in the nation.

MOVING THE BALL
• Marquette is first in the BIG EAST and ninth in the nation in assists per game (20.4).
• The Golden Eagles have recorded 20-or-more assists in 7-of-13 games this season. MU hit that mark eight times all of last season.

CLEANING THE GLASS
• Marquette has outrebounded its opponent in all but one game this season.
• Under Megan Duffy, Marquette is 87-22 when outrebounding the opponent.
• The Golden Eagles had a season-high 55 rebounds against Bucknell on Thursday, Dec. 21.
• Frannie Hottinger (4th, 8.5) and Liza Karlen (9th, 7.5) are both top-10 in the BIG EAST in rebounds per game.
• MU is first in the BIG EAST and 39th nationally in rebounding margin (+7.9).
