Golden Eagles back in action at Toledo Invite
East Lansing, MICHIGAN - The Marquette men's tennis team concluded its play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Michigan State.
Junior Blake Roegner tallied a singles win vs Notre Dame in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 10-6).
Freshmen TJ Ryerson picked up a singles win in his first ITA Regionals vs Northern Illinois in a straight fashion (6-2, 6-2).
Cyrus Ahmad and Roegner competed for the Golden Eagles in doubles action but fell short in the opening round to Notre Dame which eliminated the tandem from the tournament double draw.
"I felt our three freshmen really got a look at the level of tennis at the top of the collegiate game and came away with a lot to process and use to move forward," director of tennis Jud Shaufler said. " Blake Roegner played very well and lost a tough main draw match and followed up with a quality win against a player from Notre Dame. With the number of new players we have, this fall has been a learning process, and we believe that we are learning a lot."
