Golden Eagles compete at Division I ITA Midwest Regionals
Columbus, OHIO - The Marquette women's tennis team closed out its play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Ohio State.
In doubles action Marquette was buoyed by graduate student Andie Weise and senior Tiera Jarmond, the duo picked up an 8-4 win over Bradley in the round of 64.
In the round of 32 Weise/Jarmond advanced past Illinois State with another 8-4 victory to move them to the round of 16. The duo fell just short in a tie break loss in the round of 16 versus Michigan, 8-7 (7-1).
Freshmen Aiyana Abbott picked up a singles win for MU against SIUE (3-0, retired).
Jarmond tallied a victory versus Bowling green in three sets (7-5,3-6, 10-7).
"Although we didn't have a lot of singles success, it was great to be able to get some quality results on the doubles side," associate head coach Jayson Wiseman said. "Andie and Tiera have a ton of experience and that really showed in their play as they were able to advance and be competitive at that level without being fully healthy. I'm very proud of their efforts and we learned a ton about the four ladies who competed this weekend."

Marquette returns to action on November 1 at the NIU Huskie Invitational hosted by Northern Illinois to conclude its fall campaign.
