Golden Eagles set for Midwest division contest
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's soccer team (6-5-1, 2-2-0 BIG EAST) will travel to Xavier (4-5-4, 1-2-1 BIG EAST) Saturday, October 19 at 6:00 p.m. CT for a matchup at Corcoran Field, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
MU Falls to Providence 1-0 In Early Ending Due To Weather
Saturday's afternoon matchup vs Providence resulted in an early ending due to weather and lightning in the area.
Both programs started the match battling for possession in the midfield looking for scoring opportunities but were unable to do so through the first half.
MU had two scoring opportunities early the first half by Tim Smith and Abdoul Karim Pare but could not find the back of the net.
In the second half, Providence found the back of the net in the 47th minute and took a 1-0 advantage just before the game was delayed due to weather and lightning in the area.
After an hour delay, the two teams resumed play on the field. Marquette turned it's pressure up being aggressive and controlling the possession for majority of the second half that was played.
In the 73rd minute the match was ended due to serve weather and lightning in the area.

Saturday's match will be the 14th meeting between Marquette and Xavier in program history.
The last match was played in Milwaukee and resulted in a 2-1 win for Xavier. Marquette holds a slight advantage over Xavier in the series history. MU has defeated Xavier six times while Xavier holds five wins.
