Golden Eagles continue season-opening two-game road swing
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's basketball team continues its season-opening two-game road trip at Illinois on Sunday, Nov. 10.
The Sunday night contest will tip at 7 p.m. CT and air on the Big Ten Network with Jason Ross Jr. (play-by-play) and Shimmy Gray-Miller (analyst) on the call. Live stats will be accessible at FightingIllini.com.
Marquette is coming off a season-opening 57-50 loss at UCF on Thursday night.
The Golden Eagles were led by Olivia Porter, who had 14 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists in 37 minutes. Skylar Forbes (11 points) and Lee Volker (10 points) joined Porter in double digits.
Following Sunday's game, the Golden Eagles return home to face Illinois Springfield on Monday, Nov. 18 in a Milwaukee Public Schools Kids Day Game. Tipoff from the Al McGuire Center is at 11 a.m. CT.
GOLDEN EAGLES DEBUTS
• Olivia Porter, Aryelle Stevens, Jada Bediako, Kennedi Perkins and Jaidynn Mason all made their Marquette debuts on Thursday at UCF.
• Stevens made her NCAA debut after spending the last two seasons at NJCAA Gulf Coast State College.
PORTER SHINES IN MARQUETTE DEBUT
• Olivia Porter started her first game at Marquette on Thursday night at UCF and led the team in points with 14 while adding four rebounds, three steals and two assists in a game-high 37 minutes played.
• The Charlotte transfer had career-highs in free throws made (8) and free throw attempts (9).
VOLKER CAREER HIGH STEALS IN FIRST START
• Lee Volker made her first career start at Marquette Thursday night at UCF.
• The senior guard had 10 points, six rebounds and a career-high four steals.
FORBES SHOOTS THE THREE
• Skylar Forbes hit a career-high three 3-pointers on Thursday night while taking a career-high nine 3-point attempts.
• The sophomore finished with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
