Marquette plays at No. 1 Northwestern Monday Night
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Marquette women's lacrosse team fell 14-9 at Louisville on Friday in the first road contest of the season.
Marquette (1-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) was led by Isabelle Casucci, who had a career-high four goals. Hanna Bodner (2G, 1A) and Hannah Greving (2G, 1A) had three points each.
Louisville scored the first goal of the game with five minutes left in the first. Marquette answered on the woman-up with an Isabelle Casucci goal assisted by Riley Schultz towards the end of the quarter.
Marquette outscored Louisville 4-3 in the second to take a 5-4 lead into halftime. Hanna Bodner had two of MU's four goals in the second.
The Golden Eagles were up by two at four different points in the game but couldn't hold the lead. MU was up 7-5 at the 3:40 mark of the third quarter, but Louisville scored three straight to take a one goal lead into the fourth.
The Cardinals scored seven unanswered to take a 12-7 lead before Isabelle Casucci scored her fourth of the game, a career-high, to make it 12-8.
Meg Bireley added a goal late to make it eight goals through the first two games for the junior.
Louisville (1-2, 0-0 ACC) was led by Nicole Perroni who had four goals.

- Josie Kropp moved into eighth all-time in program history with five draw controls today. The junior has 105 for her career and passed Julianna Shearer, who had 104 from 2014-17.
- Marquette stays on the road to take on No. 1 Northwestern Monday night in Evanston. It will be the first time in program history MU will faceoff against a No. 1 team in the country.
