Marquette stays on the road to face Jacksonville on Saturday
EVANSTON, Ill. – Marquette University women's lacrosse dropped a road contest at No. 4 Northwestern Monday night, 21-3. The Golden Eagles fall to 1-2 on the season.
Northwestern scored 20 seconds into the game but the Golden Eagles capitalized on a woman up opportunity 57 seconds later with a Meg Bireley goal, her ninth of the season.
The Wildcats would go on to score 10 unanswered goals before Leigh Steiner's fourth of the season ended the scoring run.
Eileen Dooley scored her first career goal in her hometown off a free position shot in the fourth quarter.
Northwestern (2-1, 0-0 BIG TEN) was led by Erin Coykendall and Madison Taylor who had six points each.
