Davis and Jarmond earn first singles wins of season
MILWAUKEE -Â The Marquette University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 team sweep over Eastern Illinois Sunday afternoon at Elite Sports Club (North Shore).
No. 2 duo, Emma Davis and Tiana Windbuchler opened doubles play with a 6-4 win. Shortly after the win at 2, Marquette earned a 1-0 team advantage with seniors Emilija Kojcic and Sarah Badawi earned a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Marquette took a 2-0 team lead in the match after Tiera Jarmond earned her first singles win as a Golden Eagle at No. 6 in straight-set fashion (6-1, 6-1).
At the No. 1 spot Emilija Kojcic earned a singles win with in straight-set style (6-3, 6-0).
Senior Lara Kaiser secured the team victory with a clinch at No. 5 (6-4, 6-3.
Badawi (No. 3) and Windbuchler (No. 4) took straight-set victories to give the Golden Eagles a 6-0 advantage.
Emma Davis secured the team sweep with her first career win at No. 2 and first win on the season in straight-set fashion.
UP NEXT: Marquette will travel to North Dakota for a pair of matches versus UND and Lipscomb.
