Golden Eagles travel to Buter for regular season finale on Saturday
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette women's basketball team fell to St. John's Tuesday night, 56-50, at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles (21-7, 10-7 BIG EAST) were led by Liza Karlen, who had 15 points and nine rebounds. Jordan King added 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Marquette was down at the half for just the sixth time this season. After scoring just two points through the first nine minutes of the third quarter, a 6-0 run in the last 50 seconds made it a 42-35 game heading into the final frame.
St. John's led by as many as 14 in the fourth quarter. Marquette cut the deficit to five with 2:50 remaining on a fast break layup by Liza Karlen, but the Red Storm made free throws down the stretch to win by six.
St. John's (17-13, 11-7 BIG EAST) was led by Ber'Nyah Mayo, who had 19 points.

- King moved into the top 20 on the all-time rebounds list with 639 career rebounds.
- Liza Karlen moved into fifth on the single season FG made list with 214 field goals this season.
- Marquette shot a season-low 29.7 percent from the floor.
