Marquette opens conference play at UConn on Saturday
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's lacrosse team dropped its final nonconference game of the season Sunday, 18-11, to No. 3 Michigan.
The Golden Eagles (4-7, 0-0 BIG EAST) were led by Meg Bireley, who had four goals on seven shots. Leigh Steiner added a hat trick and three draw controls.
CJ Meehan scored two goals for the second game in a row.
Marquette led at halftime 7-6, but the Wolverine offense caught fire in the second half for 12 goals.
Michigan (11-0, 2-0 BIG TEN) was led by Jill Smith, who had seven goals and two assists.
