Golf Places Seventh at Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate

MU heads to the BIG EAST Championships at Riverton Pointe in South Carolina

URBANA, Illinois – The Marquette University men's golf team placed seventh at the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate on Sunday at Atkins Golf Club.
Graduate student Aidan Lafferty led the way with an 8-over 221 for the event and carded a day's best 2-over 73 for the Golden Eagles to tie for 15th overall. Lafferty was one of three MU players to record a pair of birdies on Sunday.
Lafferty opened the competition on Saturday with consecutive rounds of 3-over 74 to lead the MU contingent, including four birdies in the day's second round.Â
Sophomore Will Hemauer, part of the Marquette lineup for just the second time in his career, finished as MU's No. 2 in a tie for 32nd place. He and junior Max Lyons posted a team-best three birdies in Saturday's opening round.
