Lyons is three strokes off the pace heading into Sunday's final round

AUGUSTA, Georgia – Marquette University junior men's golfer Max Lyons is tied for second at 5-under par after 36 holes at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational presented by Valspar at Forest Hills Golf Club.
Lyons carded six birdies in a 2-under 70 opening round and followed that up with three birdies in a clean 3-under 69 second round on Saturday afternoon. He's tied with three other players heading into Monday's final round and is three strokes behind individual leader Jackson Buchanan of Illinois, who posted a 6-under 66 in the second round. This weekend's individual champion earns a PGA Tour exemption.
The native of Phoenix, Arizona now has 16 rounds of par-or-better this season, including the final rounds of six of eight events so far in 2023-24.
The Golden Eagles are 10th as a team at 17-over par and are paired with Mississippi State and Wofford for Saturday's third round. They are scheduled to go off the 10th tee beginning at 7:50 a.m. Central time.
MU graduate student Aidan Lafferty is MU's No. 2 and is tied for 32nd with a 3-over 147.
