'Blue & Gold' Student-Athlete: Erin O'Keefe

The junior women's soccer player plans to attend veterinary school
MILWAUKEE - Junior women's soccer defender Erin O'Keefe is the Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for August 2024, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff.
The native of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts is a biomedical sciences major and plans to attend veterinary school after completing her undergraduate coursework. She has been a member of College of Health Sciences Dean's List, Athletics Director's Honor Roll and the BIG EAST Conference All-Academic Team each year at Marquette.
During the 2023-24 academic year, O'Keefe volunteered at the Milwaukee County Zoo, supporting zookeepers and working in the education and conservation areas. At Marquette, she is an On Your Marq mentor, a program designed to support neurodivergent students navigating their undergraduate experience.
Over this summer, O'Keefe interned at the Cape Wildlife Center in Massachusetts, working directly with animals and animal health protocols. She was part of the Tufts Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, with classes and hands-on learning. She's has also been involved in PanCan Action Network events, promoting awareness of Pancreatic Cancer, and with Project Impact and with Special Olympics. In addition, she is a peer tutor in Athletics for courses in chemistry and anatomy.
