Golden Eagles celebrate alumni weekend ahead of match
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's soccer team (5-3-1, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) will take on Butler (3-3-2, 0-1-0 BIG EAST) for its BIG EAST home opening matchup on Saturday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Valley Fields.
Alumni Weekend
All alumni have been asked to gather in the parking lot at 5:45pm for a tailgate where the team will provide food. Then make their way into the stadium for 7pm kickoff. We will recognize all alumni in attendance on the field at halftime.
Mitrovic Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Junior midfielder Mitar Mitrovic of the Marquette men's soccer program was honored by the BIG EAST being named to the Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending September 22, following a 3- 2 victory over Villanova in the teams' conference opening matchup.
The Belgrade, Serbia native recorded his first career brace in the match at Villanova with both of his goals coming off penalty kicks.
Mitrovic is the third player from Marquette to be honored by the league this season.
Matchup History
Saturday's match will be the 13th meeting between Marquette and Butler in program history.
The two teams have an even 6-6-1 series history coming into Saturday's matchup.
The last meeting between the two programs was played in Indianapolis, IN with MU taking a 2-0 win. The series began in 2013 with Marquette taking the first meeting 3-2 in two overtimes.
