
MTEN Opens 2025 Dual Season With A Pair Of Matches

Men’s tennis travels to Western Michigan for season opener
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's tennis team travels to Kalamzoo, Michigan to take on Western Michigan on Friday, January 17 in dual season opener.

The squad returns three letterwinners from last season, including junior Blake Roegner, who saw action in 18 dual matches last season playing most of them at the no. 1 or 2 spot. Roegner was voted last season's Most Improved Player and Most Valuable Player by his teammates.Â

The team added six newcomers to this year's roster, all of which are freshmen. The team welcomes back redshirt sophomore Koji Heineman and juniors Ivan Vazquez and Teddy Wong who both saw action in dual matches last season at the no. 5 and 6 spots.

Western Michigan Matchup
The Broncos come into the match with a 1-1 record after defeating Duquesne (7-0)Â and falling to Notre Dame (6-1).Â

First serve is set for 9 a.m. CT.

In 10 meetings between the two squads, Marquette holds the advantage over Western Michigan with a series record of 6-4.

Illinois State Matchup

MU will be back in action Sunday, January 19 to close its opening weekend. The match will be played in Normal, Illinois at Illinois State.Â

In the last six meetings the two programs have split the decisions 3-3, The Redbirds have taken the last three matchups.
