Golden Eagles back in action at Illinois State on Sunday
The Marquette University men's tennis team (0-1) fell 7-0 to Western Michigan (2-1) Friday morning at Sorensen Courts/West Hills Athletic Club.

Six Golden Eagles made their Marquette debut in the match: Cyrus Ahmad, Kristian Blagoev, Evan Glebov, Hugh Perrill, TJ Ryerson, and Remi St. Laurent.

"With such a young squad, it was important to see where we stood against a very solid team in Western Michigan," director of tennis Jud Schaufler said. Â "We played with great effort and intensity. Remi did a great job grinding out a three-set win at no. 4."

Western Michigan opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at all three spots, giving them a 1-0 advantage heading into singles action.

The Broncos won four of the singles matchups in straight sets to secure the team victory over the Golden Eagles.

Freshman Hugh Perrill took his singles matchup to three sets but fell short in the third set (6-3, 1-6, 4-6).

Freshman Remi St. Laurent notched his first dual competition victory as a Golden Eagle in three sets (7-6, 2-6, 10-5), giving Marquette one point in the match.
