WTEN Set For Home Opener On Saturday At New Sprovieri Tennis Complex

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team travels to Chicago, Illinois to take on UIC on Friday, January 24. The team will follow Friday's match with its home opener on Saturday.
UIC Matchup
First serve is set for 10 a.m. CT.
In 18 meetings between the two squads, Marquette holds the advantage over UIC in the series with a record of 15-3.
In the last meeting between the Golden Eagles and Flames, UIC won 4-3 during last season.
Sprovieri Tennis Complex
The squad will return home on Saturday for its home opener at the brand new Sprovieri Tennis Complex within the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation Center, where they will face Providence at 11 a.m.
Ross Sprovieri and his wife, Susan, committed $3 million in December to expand endowed tennis scholarships and help fund the facility's state-of-the-art tennis complex.
This was the largest gift ever made to the university's tennis programs. Sprovieri, a 1990 College of Business Administration graduate and former member of the men's tennis program, has been recognized for his two leadership gifts totaling $4 million. In honor of their contributions, the university has dedicated the Sprovieri Tennis Complex within the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation Center to the family.
After two seasons of playing matches off-campus, the Sprovieri Tennis Complex will now serve as the home for all Marquette Tennis home matches.
Saturday's women's match will be the first-ever event played at the Sprovieri Tennis Complex within the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation Center. The complex features four courts, locker rooms for both the men's and women's tennis teams, spectator seating, and a new scoreboard.

The match will be the team's first match against a BIG EAST opponent this season.
