Golden Eagles celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day
The Marquette University women's basketball team hosts Georgetown on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. CT.
The BIG EAST Digital Network on FloCollege features the broadcast with Bob Brainerd (play-by-play) and Chloe Marotta (analyst) on the call.
NATIONAL GIRLS & WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY AT THE AL
• Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the chance to meet student-athletes from the Marquette women's lacrosse, women's soccer and women's volleyball teams as well as Marquette Spirit Squad.
• Each team will have an autograph table on the concourse displaying gear from each sport.
• Opportunities for photos with student-athletes on the concourse.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST GEORGETOWN
• Marquette and Providence are meeting for the 32nd time on Wednesday.
• Marquette leads the all-time series, 27-4, and are 15-1 against the Hoyas at the Al McGuire Center.
• The Golden Eagles have won the last 13 meetings, the third-longest win streak over a BIG EAST opponent. MU has won the last 15 meetings over Providence and last 16 over Xavier.
FORBES LEADS GOLDEN EAGLES IN ROAD WIN OVER FRIARS
• Skylar Forbes scored 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting for her fifth 20-point game of the season at Providence on Wednesday.
• The sophomore forward sat the entire second quarter because of foul trouble and had 18 points in the second half.
• It was the 10th time this season Forbes led the team in scoring.
HALLE THIRD DOUBLE-DOUBLE OF THE SEASON AT PROVIDENCE
• Halle Vice recorded her fourth double-double of the season at Providence on Wednesday with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
• The sophomore guard also added a career-high two steals.
MASON STRONG START TO CONFERENCE PLAY
• Jaidynn Mason is averaging 11.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals in BIG EAST play.
• The junior guard has five double-digit scoring outings in the last seven games after having three during non-conference play.
DEFENSE LEADS THE WAY FOR MU
• Marquette is second in the BIG EAST and 17th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (35.9 percent) and have held opponents to under 45 percent from the floor in 17-of-18 games this season.
• The loss at Creighton on Wednesday, Jan. 8 was the first time this season an opponent shot 45-percent-or-better against Marquette.
• MU is 40th nationally holding opponents to 57.1 points per game.
• The Golden Eagles have held opponents to under 53 points five times and have held teams to 10-points-or-less in 18 quarters this season.
