MSOC Hosts Xavier Friday at 7 p.m. CT in BIG EAST Action

The Marquette University men's soccer team (4-2-2, 0-2-0 BIG EAST) continues BIG EAST Conference play on Friday, Oct. 3 when the team hosts Xavier (3-3-2, 0-1-1 BIG EAST) at 7 p.m. CT.

Friday's match continues a three-match homestand and run of 8-of-10 at Valley Fields to begin the 2025 campaign.

Defense Looks For Offensive Help

Through eight matches, the Golden Eagles have allowed a total of just nine goals and three of those scores came in a 3-3 draw against Drake on Aug. 28.

Offensively, however, Marquette has tallied just 13 goals of its own and is still looking for its first score through a pair of BIG EAST outings.

Forward Mitchell Dryden lead the way with three goals, including a pair of match-winning strikes. Nine different players own at least one score in 2025.

51st Milwaukee Cup Champs

The Marquette University men's soccer team scored two goals in the final ten minutes to win 3-2 over Milwaukee in the 51st Milwaukee Cup on Sept. 23.

The Golden Eagles netted three goals in the second half, started by Grant Locker in the 50th minute. It was the second-straight year Locker scored in the Milwaukee Cup.

Mads Konrad Horgøien scored his second goal of the season off a volley in the 81st minute that was assisted by Antonio Costabile and Kyle Bebej.

Two minutes later Tristan Rønnestad-Stevens gave MU the lead off a rebound for his first goal of his career.

Dryden's Nets Winner vs. Lipscomb

MU ended its season-opening five-match homestand with a 1-0 win over Lipscomb on Sept. 13.

The Golden Eagles were led by Mitchell Dryden, who netted his third goal of the season in the 20th minute on an assist from Andreas Fotland, the freshman's first point of his career.

Marquette outshot the Bisons 23-8 including a 16-4 difference in the second half.

MU Begins Year Two Under Korn

The 2025 season is the second season for David Korn as the head coach for the Golden Eagles men's soccer team.

The Golden Eagles went 6-7-4 (2-4-2 BIG EAST) during Korn's first year in Milwaukee. Marquette players earned five BIG EAST weekly honors in 2024.

Before coming to Marquette, Korn spent eight seasons at NCAA Division II Maryville University in St. Louis.

2025 Team Captains

Tristan Rønnestad-Stevens and Justin Milovanov were voted team captains for the 2025 season by the squad. Both are first-time captains.

MU Looks To Reverse Series Trend

The Golden Eagles are 8-5-3 all-time against the Musketeers, but have claimed just one victory n the last five matchups, a 2-1 decision at Valley Fields on March 17, 2021 during the shortened Covid season.

Xavier features one of the league's top scorers in Cooper Forcellini, who tops the BIG EAST in points per game (2.25) with nine goals through matches of Sept. 29.
