TF Competes at Bill Clinger Invitational

Golden Eagles continue strong start to 2026 indoor season.
ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Marquette University track and field team competed at the Bill Clinger Invitational on Friday, Jan. 23, continuing their strong start to the 2026 indoor season.Â
On the men's side, Danny Olsen headlined the day by winning the 400 meters in 48.21 and adding a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters at 21.71. In the 400, Bobby King placed fourth in 49.34, and Drew Klopcic followed in fifth with a 49.61. Â
The distance crew posted several standout marks, with Patrick Clune running a personal-best 4:17.08 in the mile, while the 3000 meters featured four personal bests: Dylan Riniker in 14th (8:29.96), Nick Parrell in 19th (8:37.89), Edgar Valles in 26th (8:44.89), and Max Borgmeier in 33rd (8:50.18). Â
In the field events, John Pitta tied for sixth in the high jump at 1.92m and also placed fifth in the triple jump at 13.49m, while Jude Anderson finished sixth in the long jump with a 6.59m effort. The throws group excelled in the weight throw, where each Golden Eagle set a new personal-best. Alex Matzke placed third at 15.95m, Sam Crane finished fourth at 15.69m, and Sebastian Kubas took sixth at 15.56m. Josh Pirogovsky added a fifth place shot put finish with a throw of 14.28m.Â
For the women, Marley Stoller earned a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters at a season-best 57.88, while in the mile, both Allie Opalka and Alexa Overstreet turned in personal bests with 5:29.90 and 5:38.48, respectively. Sadie Kibelstis ran a personal-best 10:25.15 to place 19th in the 3000 meters, and Taya Gummerson added a personal-best 10:59.64. Â
In the field, Haley Schaffer secured a third-place finish in the long jump at 5.41m, and Haneefa Adam claimed third in the triple jump with an 11.23m mark. Sara Stout cleared a season-best 1.57m to finish sixth in the high jump, while in the pole vault, Kassidy Papa placed seventh at 3.42m, and Alexis Boyer set a personal-best of 3.27m. Rounding out the day, Megan White threw a personal-best 16.74m to finish eighth in the weight throw invitational.Â

The Golden Eagles will split amongst three meets next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31. MU will compete in the Mark Schuck Multi in Mankato, Minn. and the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Jan. 30 and 31, and will also participate in the Parkside Classic in Kenosha on Jan. 31.FOLLOW THE GOLDEN EAGLES
