TF Competes at Bill Clinger Invitational

Golden Eagles continue strong start to 2026 indoor season.
ALLENDALE, Mich.Β βΒ The Marquette University track and field team competed at the Bill Clinger Invitational on Friday, Jan. 23, continuing their strong start to the 2026 indoor season.Β
On the men's side, Danny Olsen headlined the day by winning theΒ 400 metersΒ in 48.21 and adding a fourth-place finish in theΒ 200 metersΒ at 21.71. In the 400, Bobby King placed fourth in 49.34, andΒ Drew Klopcic followed in fifth with a 49.61.Β Β
The distance crew posted several standout marks, with Patrick Clune running aΒ personal-bestΒ 4:17.08 in the mile, while theΒ 3000 metersΒ featured four personal bests: Dylan Riniker in 14th (8:29.96), Nick Parrell in 19th (8:37.89), Edgar Valles in 26th (8:44.89), and Max Borgmeier in 33rd (8:50.18).Β Β
In the field events, John Pitta tied for sixth in the high jump at 1.92m and also placed fifth in the triple jump at 13.49m, while Jude Anderson finished sixth in the long jump with a 6.59m effort.Β The throws group excelled in the weight throw, whereΒ each Golden Eagle set a new personal-best.Β Alex Matzke placed third atΒ 15.95m,Β Sam Crane finished fourth at 15.69m, and Sebastian Kubas took sixth at 15.56m. Josh PirogovskyΒ added aΒ fifth placeΒ shot put finish with a throw of 14.28m.Β
For the women, Marley Stoller earned a sixth-place finish in theΒ 400 metersΒ atΒ a season-bestΒ 57.88, while in the mile, both Allie Opalka and Alexa Overstreet turned in personal bests with 5:29.90 and 5:38.48, respectively. Sadie KibelstisΒ ran aΒ personal-bestΒ 10:25.15 to place 19th in theΒ 3000 meters, and Taya Gummerson added aΒ personal-bestΒ 10:59.64.Β Β
In the field, Haley Schaffer secured a third-place finish in the long jump at 5.41m, and Haneefa Adam claimed third in the triple jump with an 11.23m mark. Sara Stout clearedΒ a season-bestΒ 1.57m to finish sixth in the high jump, while in the pole vault, Kassidy Papa placed seventh at 3.42m, and Alexis Boyer set aΒ personal-bestΒ of 3.27m. Rounding out the day, Megan White threw aΒ personal-bestΒ 16.74m to finish eighth in the weight throw invitational.Β

The Golden Eagles will split amongst three meets next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31. MU will compete in the Mark Schuck MultiΒ in Mankato, Minn. and the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Jan. 30 and 31, and will also participate in the Parkside Classic in Kenosha on Jan. 31.FOLLOW THE GOLDEN EAGLES
