Sieg Claims Individual Title at BIG EAST/MAC Challenge

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - Marquette freshman Ben Sieg held on to his second round lead to claim the individual title at the BIG EAST/MAC Challenge in Winter Garden, Fla. Sieg claimed the individual crown after firing a season-best seven-under, 209. The win is the first individual victory for Marquette since a win by Nathan Colson in 2002.
As a team, the Golden Eagles placed second, the highest finish of the season. Marquette shot a one-over, 865, placing two shots behind tournament winner Akron (863, -1).
Sophomore Mike Van Sickle placed in the top 10, finishing eighth. He shot a final round 70 to finish at even par, 216.
Junior Ted Gray finished in 12th at two-over 218. Junior Michael Bielawski placed 28th at eight-over, 224. Sophomore Dustin Schwab rounded out the team scoring for Marquette, placing 33rd with a nine-over, 225.
Two Marquette players played as individuals. Sophomore Chris Streff and freshman Mike McDonald tied for 38th, both finishing at 10-over, 226.
