OMAHA, Neb. — Despite 12 shots over the final 65 minutes, including three on target, Marquette couldn't break through in a 0-0 double overtime draw at Creighton on Sunday afternoon.
The tie for the Golden Eagles (3-11-3, 1-5-2, 5 points BIG EAST) eliminated them from contention for a berth in the 2018 BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship, as a result of DePaul's 1-0 win over Villanova earlier in the afternoon.

MU didn't get its first shots on frame until the second half. Maddie Monticello struck a chance from just outside the right corner of the penalty area in the 53rd minute that was saved by Creighton's Katie Sullivan. In the 66th minute, Kylie Sprecher was able to corral a loose ball in the middle of the area and fire a low shot, but it skipped past the near post. Katrina Wetherell had another long chance in the 71st minute from more than 40 yards out on a free kick restart, but it was also saved at the far post.
In the the 100th minute of the first overtime, Ryley Bugay played a pass from the middle wide to the right side of the area for Monticello, who weighted a pass across the face of the goal that neither Sprecher or Leah Celarek could get on the end of.
Creighton (6-9-1, 3-4-1, 10 points) outshot Marquette 20-14 for the match, while the Golden Eagles earned five corner kicks to the Bluejays' four. Â
