The Golden Eagles look to follow up a win at the Northern Intercollegiate with Windon success
Fresh off its first win of the season, Marquette plays its third event in three weekends at the Window Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern at Knollwood C.C. in Lake Forest, Illinois.
Marquette's victory at the Northern Intercollegiate was its second at Rich Harvest Farms in as many seasons, as the Golden Eagles needed a 1-under-par performance on its final combined 10 holes (among counted scores) to hold off a 4-under-par final round by second-place Notre Dame. Matt Murlick's even par 216 was good for a tie for fourth place to lead MU - it was his eighth career top-10 finish and sixth career event at par or lower.
THE EVENT
Knollwood C.C. (Par 72, 7,207 yards) hosts the Windon Memorial for the third time in the event's 23 seasons. Play includes 36 shotgun holes on Sunday, and 18 in the final round on Monday with assigned tee times based on result.
Marquette Lineup: Matt Murlick, Hunter Eichhorn, Tyler Leach, Oliver Farrell, Austin Kendziorski
The 16-team event includes Army West Point, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Iowa State, Marquette, Memphis, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Northern Illinois, Purdue, South Florida, Southern Illinois, UC Davis, UCLA and UNC Greensboro. Three of those teams - Michigan, Northern Illinois, UCLA - were participants in the Northern Intercollegiate last week.
LAST SEASON AT THE WINDON MEMORIAL
The Golden Eagles tied for fifth with an 8-over-par 848 at Par 70 Evanston G.C. last October, while Oliver Farrell's even par 210 (69-74-67) was tied for 10th.
