MARQUETTE'S LINEUP
Lineup: Hunter Eichhorn, Tyler Leach, Matt Murlick, Bhoom Sima-Aree, Josh Robinson
The Golden Eagles tied for fourth at the Windon Memorial Classic on Sept. 16-17 and were led by co-medalist Hunter Eichhorn, who posted a first round 65 on his way to a six-stroke lead after two rounds of play. The junior held on for a share of his third individual crown and first since winning the BIG EAST Championship as a freshman in 2018. He finished with a 6-over-par 213 (65-66-76) and came two strokes from tying the tournament record.
Leach recorded a final round 4-under 67 to earn the third top-10 finish of his career. The sophomore played a bogey-free third round and ended the tournament at 2-under, the second-lowest score versus par of his career.
Murick posted three birdies in his final five holes to close with a 1-under 70 and a 2-over 215 for the tournament, while Bhoom Sima-Aree shot a 2-over on the final day.
Freshman Josh Robinson made his career debut as part of the MU lineup in the Windon.
WHAT THEY ARE SAYING…
"When we needed him, Tyler (Leach) really showed up and I'm proud of the way he closed out today. I know it was a tough one for him. He played a good tournament for 36 holes last week (at the Gopher Invitational) and didn't finish the way he wanted to but to go 4-under today with no bogeys is really impressive. We beat some good teams this week and gained a little momentum being able to close the way we did today heading into Texas." – head coach Steve Bailey following the final round at the Windon Memorial Classic
"The schedule is phenomenal, so pretty much every week is something to look forward to. Trinity Forest, which I believe is SMU's tournament will be a treat. I think that is a Coore & Crenshaw course. I know they played a Tour event there the last two years and it looks pretty special. We're just incredibly spoiled so every week is a good week." – senior Matthew Bachmann
