Marquette Features Nike N7 Uniforms
Marquette will wear special Nike N7 uniforms when the program faces Eastern Illinois on Friday in support of Nike's Native American Heritage Month celebration.
Since 2010, N7 has partnered with select collegiate basketball programs to create turquoise jerseys and shorts. Â More than a color, Turquoise holds symbolic prestige and power in many Native American communities. Â Marquette has participated on an annual basis, featuring special uniforms, warmups and shoes.
Nike is committed to getting youth in Native American and Aboriginal communities moving so they can lead healthier, happier and more successful lives. Through Nike's N7 Fund, it supports organizations that provide sport and physical activity programming to youth in these communities. The N7 Fund helps them reach their greatest potential through play and sport and creates more equal playing fields for all. Â
John Collects Strong Performer In Opener
For the second time in three seasons, forward Theo John opened the season with a double-double and now owns six for his career.
In 23 minutes against UAPB, John collected 13 points, 12 rebounds (career high) and five blocked shots. Â He also knocked down 9-of-10 free throws, making a single-game personal best in charity tosses made and attempted.
