FS1 features television broadcast
The Marquette University men's basketball team (5-3, 1-1 BIG EAST) hits the road Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT to face Xavier (7-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) in the Cintas Center.  FS1 will feature the television broadcast, with Eric Collins (play-by-play) and Dickey Simpkins (analyst) calling the action.  Following Sunday's game, the Golden Eagles will return to host No. 7/6 Villanova on Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. in the team's third potential top-10 outing of the season.
Series With Musketeers Spans 60 Years

Marquette and Xavier will meet for the 78th time on Sunday afternoon, continuing a series that spans nearly half of the program's 103-year history.

The Golden Eagles own a 53-24 overall lead in matchups that date back to the 1958-59 campaign and have claimed each of the last four meetings and 6-of-8 overall. Â MU dominated the pairings during the Al McGuire and Hank Raymonds era, at one point claiming 26-straight victories between 1969 and 1983. Â

Marquette swept the season series in 2019-20, most recently posting an 84-82 victory on Jan. 29, 2020 in the Cintas Center. Â Forward Sacar Anim led the way with 28 points and he and Koby McEwen netted 17-straight at one point in the second half after guard Markus Howard left with an injury.

Marquette has been winning the battle on the boards, at both ends of the court, through the team's first eight games in 2020-21.

The Golden Eagles are currently second in the league in rebound margin (+9.1, 44th in nation) and third in both offensive (11.8) and defensive (29.5) boards. Â

MU's success has been a team effort, with four players ranked among the league leaders in rebounding. Â Forwards Justin Lewis and Theo John top the roster at 7.0 rebounds per game to rank 10th, while Dawson Garcia (6.9 rpg., 13th) and Jamal Cain (6.3 rpg., 15th) are also both in the top-15.
