Lott and Taylor lead MU in double figures
VILLANOVA, Pa.—The Marquette women's basketball team opened its final regular season road trip at Villanova, falling to the Wildcats, 61-47 on Friday night at Finneran Pavilion.
Selena Lott and Camryn Taylor led the squad with 13 and 11 points, respectively, while Altia Anderson was nearly in double digits with nine points. Anderson and freshman Taylor Valladay each grabbed a game-high six boards, which was a career best for the rookie. Lott dished out a game-high seven assists and is averaging 5.8 per game this season.
MU (20-7, 11-5) combined to outrebound Villanova (15-11, 9-6), 41-31 and took 31 points in the paint, but could not overcome an uncharacteristically tough shooting night, connecting on just 31.4 percent (16-51) from the floor.
The Wildcats were led by Mary Gedaka's 21 points as Bridget Herlihy added 18 points.
With two regular season games remaining the Golden Eagles remain in second place in the BIG EAST standings, holding onto a half a game lead over Butler.
UP NEXT: Marquette concludes the weekend at Georgetown on Sunday Feb. 23. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. CT on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
