Four freshmen make collegiate debuts
The Marquette University women's tennis team (0-1) opened its 2021 dual-match season with a 7-0 non-conference loss at Iowa State (2-0) Sunday afternoon.
The competition was the first for the team since COVID-19 shortened the 2019-20 campaign last March.
The Golden Eagles were swept in doubles action and Iowa State was able to claim the team victory with a trio of straight-set singles wins.
MU's lineup featured four freshmen, who were making their respective collegiate debuts.
The team returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 30 when the team hosts UIC.
