
WSOC Blanks Seton Hall 1-0 In BIG EAST Action

Golden Eagles have now won three-straight conference matches
The Marquette University women's soccer team (7-4-0, 3-1-0 BIG EAST) earned its third consecutive conference win with a 1-0 victory against Seton Hall (6-6-0, 1-3-0 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon.

Hailey Block scored the lone goal of the match in the 69th minute to lead the Golden Eagles to their fifth home win this fall. It was her first goal of the season, and she was assisted by Elsi Twombly and Rachel Johnson.

Mikki Easter made a pair of saves to post her fifth clean sheet of the 2021 campaign. She has now made 27 saves on the season, and has posted two clean sheets in BIG EAST play.Â

Neither team was able to find the back of the net through the first 45 minutes of action. The Pirates had their best scoring opportunity of the half in the 28th minute, but Easter made an outstanding save to prevent Seton Hall from taking an early lead.

Marquette tallied twice as many shots as the Pirates, outshooting them 16-8. Katrina Wetherell led MU with four shots, Rachel Johnson had three and four players had two.

UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles head to Storrs, Connecticut, for a match against UConn on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. CT to kick off a brief two-game road trip.
