WSOC Hosts Creighton Thursday On Senior Day

The Marquette University women's soccer team (5-3-0, 3-3-0 BIG EAST) wraps up the home portion of its season on Thursday, March 28 at 12 p.m. CT against Creighton (2-4-0, 2-3-0 BIG EAST) at Valley Fields.

The Golden Eagles remain in second place in the Midwest Division of the BIG EAST Conference and in the hunt for a bid to the league tourney. The top-two finishers in each division will compete for the title in Providence, R.I. on April 16-18.

Prior to Thursday's match, Marquette will honor senior Maggie Lena (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica HS). A three-year letterwinner, Lena has appeared in 16 career matches and collected her first career assist earlier this season against DePaul. Lena has also been heavily involved in the Marquette community throughout her career, including serving as Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. A member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, she will graduate this spring with a degree in biomedical sciences, with a minor in biology.

Ten different players have found the back of the net this season for Marquette, with Elsi Twombly and Kylie Sprecher leading the way with three goals each. Twombly is the squad's point leader with seven, courtesy of her most recent assist in the win over DePaul on March 25.

Freshman Lauren Schill continues to see a majority of the action in net for MU and is ranked among the league leaders in saves per game (3rd, 4.33 spg.).
