'Blue & Gold' Student-Athlete of March: Joe Keys

Keys is an All-American multi-event athlete and a standout in the classroom
MILWAUKEE - Senior men's track athlete Joe Keys is the Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2021, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff.
Keys is a senior on the men's track & field team, majoring in mechanical engineering, and also beginning coursework for his master's in business administration. Keys was named a USTFCCCA Indoor All-American in the heptathlon as an NCAA Indoor qualifier in the event. He is the Marquette record holder in the heptathlon and second all-time in the decathlon. One of the greatest multi-event athletes in program history, Keys also ranks in Marquette's top-10 career lists in five other individual events. He is a two-year team captain.
Keys is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma honor society, Dean's List in the College of Engineering throughout his career, BIG EAST All-Academic, and Athletics Director Honor Roll. He has participated in the Engineering Co-op experience, with experiential placements at Husco Manufacturing in Wisconsin testing hydraulic control valves, and with Mortenson Co. in Utah on drainage and water flow projects.
Keys earned a Chick Evans Scholarship, based on outstanding academics, character, and caddying record, and is an Evans Scholar at Marquette. He is also a member of Engineers without Borders, and a hydraulics team leader in engineering.
