WTEN Opens Weekend With 5-2 Win Over North Dakota

Golden Eagles host EIU Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Marquette University women's tennis team (2-3) opened its weekend homestand with a 5-2 win over North Dakota (0-4) Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The Golden Eagles opened the match by clinching the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions and carried that momentum into singles action. Sarah Badawi pushed MU ahead 2-0 with a quick 6-3, 6-2 win at Emilija Kojcic would eventually clinch the team victory with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 decision at No. 2.
Natalijia Popovic and Andie Weise also earned singles wins on Friday for MU.
UP NEXT:Â Marquette returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 30 when the team hosts Eastern Illinois at 10 a.m. CT.
