Golden Eagles back in action Tuesday night
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's basketball team (6-3, 0-0 BIG EAST) fell to the Wisconsin Badgers (6-2, 0-0 Big Ten) in an overtime thriller, 77-80, Saturday afternoon.
The game took place in a sold out arena of 17,760 people, the fourth biggest at Fiserv Forum.
The Golden Eagles were led by Kam Jones with 26 points, recording back-to-back career highs. Jones tacked on six rebounds, an assist and a steal to his performance. Olivier-Maxence Prosper followed with 14 points, five boards and an assist.
MU trailed by 11 points at the half, and was able to cut into the deficit but ultimately came up short. MU shot 50 percent (27-of-53) from the field.
Chucky Hepburn paced the Badgers with 19 points and four rebounds to go along with Tyler Wahl's 15 points and 7 rebounds.
NOTABLE:
- Chase Ross led the Golden Eagles at halftime scoring eight points (3-of-3) in only 10 minutes
- Kam Jones played 40 minutes and had a back-to-back career-high in points
- Tyler Kolek led the game in assists with eight
- The first meeting with Wisconsin dates back to 1917
- Wisconsin now has a record of 70-59 over MU in all-time games
