
WBB Drops 77-66 Road Decision at RV DePaul

Late push comes up short for Golden Eagles in rivalry contest
CHICAGO, Ill. — The Marquette women's basketball team (17-8, 10-6 BIG EAST) dropped a 77-66 road decision Wednesday night against RV DePaul at Wintrust Arena.
The Blue Demons (21-7, 13-4 BIG EAST) took control early behind 47 percent (7-of-15) shooting from deep in the first half. Marquette trailed 48-32 at the half, its largest halftime deficit of the season. The Golden Eagles made a late push, winning the fourth quarter 21-8, but the comeback attempt fell short.
Antwainette Walker made a strong impact off the bench for MU, as the junior guard fell just shy of her first-career double-double. She finished with 12 points and a team-high nine boards before fouling out after 24 minutes of action.Â
Marquette's scoring efforts were paced by junior guard Jordan King, who finished with 16 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists.
DePaul never trailed in the contest, led by Deja Church's 23-point performance.

Antwainette Walker had her second double-figure scoring performance in the past three games. Prior to that, she had just one in her career.

With her first rebound of the contest, Lauren Van Kleunen moved into sole possession of 11th place on Marquette's career rebounding leaderboard, passing Mary Spellacy (1977-81). She now has 252.

Marquette outrebounded DePaul 44-39. It has now won the rebounding battle in 20 of 24 contests this season.Â

With the loss, Marquette is now 32-48 all-time against DePaul.
