
Golf ties for third at Bash at the Beach

Eichhorn shoots 8-under par to place third, Evangelio records career bests

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – The Marquette University men's golf team shot 18-under par in the third round of Bash at the Beach on Tuesday to finish the event tied for third with Long Island University.
Graduate student Hunter Eichhorn paced the Golden Eagles, posting an 8-under 205 to tie for third. Nicolas Evangelio followed close behind with a 5-under par to tie for 13th after shooting a team-best 8-under (63) on Tuesday. The single round score and 54-hole event score both marked career bests for Evangelio.
The redshirt junior got off to a fast start, recording six straight birdies to begin his final round. Tyler Leach also notched an eagle on the first hole, and Aidan Lafferty had an eagle on the fifth.
MU combined for 36 birdies in the third round, 10 of which came from Josh Robinson, Patrick Adler and Lafferty, who were golfing as individuals. Seven of eight Golden Eagles finished under par.
Leach finished tied for 24th through three rounds after shooting 3-under 210 (72-69-69), and Robinson finished tied for 27th at 2-under par (69-70-72).
Max Lyons and Adler finished tied for 38th after shooting even-par.
UP NEXT: Marquette will travel to Palm City, Florida, on March 28-29 for the Valspar Collegiate at Floridian Golf Club, hosted by the University of Houston.
