Evangelio tied for 11th at Valspar Collegiate through two rounds

PALM CITY, Florida – Marquette University men's golfer Nicolás Evangelio is tied for 11th through 36 holes in the Valspar Collegiate and the Golden Eagles sit 14th at Floridian National Golf Club.

Evangelio began his day with a 5-under 66 in Monday morning's opening round with eight birdies against one bogey and a double on the par-4 17th. The double bogey came on his second hole of the day and he finished his opening round with seven birdies over his final 11 holes. He posted an even-par 71 in the second round and is tied with three other players at 5-under (66-71–137).

The Golden Eagles ended the first round in a tie for eighth with a 3-under 281, but fell to 14th on the leaderboard after a combined 12-over 296 in the day's final round.

Hunter Eichhorn fired an opening round 70 (1-under), but posted a 4-over 75 in the second. Tyler Leach sits second to Evangelio on the MU roster in a tie for 41st at 2-over (144) after rounds of 73 and 71.

Marquette placed 11th at 36-over par in its most recent appearance in the event in 2021.

Tuesday's third and final round features a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Central time with MU's contingent going off holes 15-17 with Southern California and Minnesota.
