
Robinson records hole-in-one at Valspar Collegiate

Robinson shot a collegiate-low 67 in Tuesday's final round

PALM CITY, Florida – Marquette University men's golfer Josh Robinson carded his first hole-in-one in competition and posted a 4-under 67, the lowest score of his college career, in Tuesday's final round at the Valspar Collegiate at Floridian National Golf Club.
The Golden Eagles shot even-par as a team in the third round and placed 14th at 9-over par (281-296-284--861), five strokes ahead of Southern California and 11 in front of Minnesota.
Graduate student Hunter Eichhorn joined Robinson as MU golfers under par on Tuesday with a 1-under 70 that included an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole. Eichhorn led the MU lineup this week, finishing at 2-over par (70-75-70--215) in a tie for 37th alongside Nicolás Evangelio.
Evangelio entered Tuesday in 11th place, but fell down the leaderboard with a 7-over 78. He began the tournament on Monday with a 5-under 66 in the opening round with eight birdies against one bogey and a double on the par-4 17th. The double bogey came on his second hole of the day and he finished his opening round with seven birdies over his final 11 holes. He posted an even-par 71 in the second round.
Tyler Leach carded a 3-over 216 (73-71-72) for the week to tie for 42nd, while Robinson tied for 61st with a cumulative 7-over 220 (74-79-67). Robinson's ace came on the 144-yard, par-3 eighth hole to push him to 2-under through 10 holes. He would bogey the next hole before closing his final round with birdies on three of his final seven holes.
Robinson's hole-in-one is the first for a Marquette golfer since May 14, 2019 when Oliver Farrell delivered one on the par-3 second hole in the second round of the NCAA Austin Regional at The University of Texas Golf Club.
The Golden Eagles ended the first round in a tie for eighth with a 3-under 281, but fell to 14th after a combined 12-over 296 in Monday's second round.
Marquette placed 11th at 36-over par in its most recent appearance in the event in 2021. Eichhorn led MU at that event in a tie for 40th.
The Golden Eagles resume action on April 3-5 at The Calusa Cup in Naples, Florida at Calusa Pines Golf Club.
