
Golf leads Wildcat Spring Invitational after day one

Hunter Eichhorn sits in a tie for second at 2-under 68

VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania – The Marquette University men's golf team sits alone in first place after one round at the Wildcat Spring Invitational at Radnor Valley Country Club.
The Golden Eagles fired a combined 1-over 281 in Monday's first round and sit four strokes ahead of BIG EAST Conference foe St. John's in second place at 5-over. Graduate student Hunter Eichhorn led MU with a 2-under 68 and is tied for second with Delaware's Sahasawat Ariyachatvakin.
Eichhorn posted a bogey on the par-3 second hole and was clean the rest of his round, posting three birdies in a five hole stretch from Nos. 5-11.
Redshirt junior Tyler Leach notched a 1-under 69 with three birdies offsetting a pair of bogeys. He is tied for fourth, while freshman Max Lyons is also in the top-10 with a 1-over 71.
Lehigh's David Hurly posted a 3-under 67 on Monday to lead all players and is one stroke ahead of Eichhorn heading into Tuesday's final round. Eichhorn is the lone individual competing at Radnor Valley in the Golfstat's top 100.

Tuesday's second round is set to begin on April 18 at 7 a.m. Central time. The Golden Eagles are paired with St. John's, Bucknell and Long Island University.
