
Golf Concludes First Round of Puerto Rico Classic

Lyons and Robinson finish day 2-under par
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The Marquette University men's golf team finished round one of the Puerto Rico Classic 4-over par (292) as a team. MU currently sits 11 of 13 teams with two rounds to play.Â
MU teed off with a shotgun start at 6:30 a.m. CT at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.
Max Lyons and Josh Robinson shot 2-under par (70) in the opening round to lead the Golden Eagles. Lyons was bogey-free through his first ten holes with two birdies. Lyons had his first bogey on his 11th hole, but got it right back on his 12th hole, the par-5 No. 2. Lyons lost another stroke with a bogey on his 17th hole, but would get the stroke right back again with another birdie on his final hole of the round.Â
Robinson had a steady day making 14 pars and only one bogey. The Marquette senior was 1-over par after his first six holes but birdied two of the last three holes to finish 1-under par on the front. Robinson made eight straight pars on the back nine and rolled in a birdie on the par-4 No. 9 to end his day 2-under par. Robinson and Lyons are tied for 10th place individually.Â
Playing as an individual, sophomore Patrick Adler finished his day even par. Adler pared 14 of his 18 holes with only two bogies and made two birdies. Adler currently sits tied for 39th.
East Tennessee State currently leads after the first round at 16-under par (272). Round two begins tomorrow morning at 6:30 a.m. CT.Â
