Golf Leads Loyola Intercollegiate After Round One

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Marquette University men's golf team leads the Loyola Intercollegiate after an opening round 1-under par 287.

The Golden Eagles put together a solid first round at Palm Valley Golf Club. MU recorded the second most pars (55) and fourth most birdies (15) in the field. No member of the team scored worse than a bogey in the first 18 holes.

MU's No. 1, Josh Robinson extends his streak of sub-par rounds to four, after shooting a 2-under par 70. The reigning BIG EAST Golfer of the week rolled in three birdies and surrendered only one bogey on the day. Robinson is tied for fourth place individually.

Nicolás Evangelio made his way around Palm Valley G.C. at 1-under par (71). Evangelio rolled in a team-high four birdies during his round. He is tied for seventh heading into tomorrow's second round.

Max Lyons and Tyler Leach finished their rounds even par (72). Lyons made three bogeys and three birdies with pars in between. Playing as an individual, Leach had five bogeys in his round but fought back with three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 11th.
