Golf Finishes Runner-up at Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Marquette University men's golf team shot a 20-under par 844 (287-280-277) to take second place in the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club. MU's 54-hole event score is a season-best.

The Golden Eagles did most of their damage on the par-5s, playing them 34-under par with an average score of 4.43 to lead the field. MU made the second most birdies in the field (58) and third most pars (167).

Senior Nicolás Evangelio paced the Golden Eagles, finishing under par in all three rounds. Evangelio tied his 54-hole career-low with an 8-under par 208. The Logroño, Spain native shot a season-low 5-under 67 in his final round to tie Robinson for the low round of the tournament. Evangelio finished fifth individually.

MU's No. 1, Josh Robinson finished 6-under par for the second tournament in a row to place 10th. Robinson tied his 54-hole career low with a score of 210.

After shooting even par in the first two rounds, sophomore Max Lyons turned in a 3-under par 69 in the final round. This marks Lyons' 11th round of par or better on the season, a team-best. Lyons tied for 17th place.

Patrick Adler turned in a season-low score for his final round with a 3-under par 69. Adler and Evangelio combined to record nearly half the teams' birdies with 14 each.

Bhoom Sima-Aree shot even par in his final round to tie for 36th at 1-over.

Playing as an individual, senior Tyler Leach finished even par after three rounds with a 2-under 70 on the final day. Leach tied for 29th individually.

MU finished one stroke behind winners Utah Valley.
