
Golf Travels to Florida for Valspar Collegiate

Round one tees off at 7:30 a.m. CT on Monday, March 27
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's golf team travels to Palm City, Florida for the Valspar Collegiate at Floridian National Golf Club on March 27-28.Â
THE EVENT
Houston will be playing host to 14 of the top teams in the country at the Valspar Collegiate. The field will consist of Arizona State (2), Duke (37), Florida State (7), Georgia Southern (18), Houston (48), Lamar, Marquette (60), Minnesota (82), Northwestern (26), North Carolina (4), Ohio State (34) Pepperdine (9), Texas (10), Texas A&M (14), Texas Tech (3) and Wake Forest (36). 15 of the 16 teams in the field are ranked inside Golfstat's top 100 teams with eight ranked in the top-25.Â
Teams will compete in three rounds over two days. Round one will tee off at 7:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start on Monday, March 27. Round two will follow round one Monday afternoon. Live scoring will be provided by Golfstat.
THE COURSE
The Floridian Course is a par 71Â stretching 6,943 yards. The course is surrounded by natural preserve and native wildlife with views of the St. Lucie River. It features rolling fairways and greens with demanding hazards across the course.Â
THE LINEUP
Lineup: Tyler Leach, Max Lyons, Bhoom Sima-Aree, Josh Robinson, Nicolás Evangelio
Last time out, the Golden Eagles finished in second place at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club. MU shot a season-best event score of 20-under par 844 (287-280-277).
Nicolás Evangelio was the low man last time out tying his 54-hole career low with an 8-under par 208 (71-70-67). Evangelio turned a season-low single-round score with a 5-under par 67 in the final round to finish fifth overall in the tournament. Evangelio earned BIG EAST Golfer of the Week honors for his performance at Palm Valley.
MU's No. 4, Josh Robinson has been on a roll going under par in five of his last six competitive rounds. Robinson shot a 6-under par 210 to finish 10th at Palm Valley. His score of 210 ties his career low which he set earlier this season in Puerto Rico on Feb. 28.
Senior Tyler Leach returns to the lineup after competing as an individual in Arizona. Leach finished even par to tie for 29th at the Loyola Intercollegiate.
