Golf in Third at Tiger Collegiate Invitational

COLUMBIA, Missouri – The Marquette University men's golf team shot a 23-under par 553 (273-280) in two rounds of the Tiger Collegiate Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne on Monday.

MU started the day off strong with a first round 15-under par 273 with four Golden Eagles finishing under par. Marquette followed it up with an 8-under par performance in the afternoon.

Nicolás Evangelio shot a season-best 7-under 65 for the low round of the day. He turned in a 4-under par 68 in the morning 18. Through 36 holes, he's rolled in 14 birdies with only three bogeys. Evangelio heads into the final day tied for third at 11-under par.

Bhoom Sima-Aree was the low-man in the opening round with a career-best 6-under par 66. Starting on the par 5 10th, Sima-Aree opened the day with an eagle, his first of three for the tournament. He would finish his opening nine with two birdies and no bogeys. The Nonthaburi, Thailand native had only one bogey in his first 18 holes with four birdies and two eagles. He shot an even par 72 in the afternoon round and is tied for 13th place at 6-under par for the event.

Sophomore Max Lyons matched Evaneglio in the first round with a 4-under 68. Lyons dropped in five birdies and an eagle in the morning round.

MU's No. 1, Tyler Leach sits at 2-under par for the tournament after posting 1-under par 71s in back-to-back rounds. Leach is currently tied for 31st.
